It is important for us to make our space a place of refuge as you heal. Click below to see our meditation space complete with a hanging daybed to provide comfort and gentle movement if desired as you do the hard work of healing. We have room to move and connect with your body through trauma informed yoga, Qi-gong, and more. This and other techniques will help you ground yourself as we work together. A relaxed muscle body is the result of healing, and we hope our space is a sanctuary that makes you feel cared for along the way.
We are excited to offer both therapy and coaching options for our clients. Clients may even wish to work with both disciplines at the same time. Psychotherapists have advanced training required to treat mental health diagnoses while coaches do not. Coaching tends to be more focused on understanding the now and helping you achieve future goals. Psychotherapy focuses more on healing from the past with a present and future orientation. Therapists can only practice within states where they are licensed and coaches are able to provide services throughout the US and internationally.
We are pleased to offer tele-health therapy and video coaching services for clients who can’t make it to our space. We will work with you to provide convenient appointments. Contact us at your earliest convenience to schedule your consultation.
Some of us don’t have the time or space in our life and schedule for ongoing weekly sessions. Some of us wish to heal, but spanning in over a long period of time feels daunting or difficult when holding painful memories that we wish didn’t get in the way of our daily life. Decide on the fit that feels best, and we will customize a plan to meet your needs. It could range from 2 hours a week to 3 full days in a row. Imagine the work that can be accomplished and felt in 3 days of intentional healing!
Did you know that the eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is endorsed by the American Psychiatric Association? This type of therapy has be shown effective for ‘reprocessing’ traumatic events that happened in the past, yet continue to cause negative emotions and subsequent actions today.
At Intentional Healing Counseling & Coaching, our work is rooted in the belief that feeling seen, understood, and supported can create space for meaningful growth.
Megan and Maddie bring different areas of education, training, and professional experience to Intentional Healing.
Megan provides holistic, trauma-informed psychotherapy for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, relationships, and life transitions.
Maddie provides evidence-based parent education and Connected Family Coaching for families from pregnancy through age five, helping parents better understand child development, behavior, and the relationships being built during these foundational years.
While the services we provide are distinct, we share a belief in approaching people with curiosity rather than judgment, honoring individual experiences, and recognizing the importance of connection in both healing and healthy development.
Whether you are coming to Intentional Healing for your own healing or looking for support as you grow into and through parenthood, our hope is that you experience a space where you feel supported, respected, and understood.
We know our clients have a choice in several different areas, so we go out of our way to deliver the level of care and compassion we would want for our own families. Our boutique concierge approach allows us to provide custom treatments that include the newest methods and models. We are lifelong learners and will continue to advance our knowledge so we can provide you the best possible treatment and support.
If a slower pace once a week works best with your schedule, we are here to provide that. Once a week or multiple times a week are available.
Many factors may lead you to lean into this faster track to healing in body, mind, and soul. Whether healing old wounds or setting new goals, intensive services may be a good fit. During our free consultation and intake session we can determine the right pace for you.
We all have different places where we feel comfortable and we wish to honor that by providing care in a location where it’s best for you. Options even include walk and talk eco therapy or eco coaching in nature.
Complete health and wellness in body, mind, and soul may be our long-term goal, but our immediate priority is client comfort.
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, also known as EMDR, is a therapeutic technique used by counselors and therapists. All humans on this planet experience trauma, and we hold the effects of it in our nervous system. We can think of reprocessing like cleaning your house. It starts off as a big unorganized mess that feels overwhelming and exhausting. Eventually though, things get put into their right place and it starts to look tidier and feel more manageable. Options for an intensive format for therapy can range from hours over the course of weeks to 3 days at a time dependent on your needs. “Cleaning your house” at a faster rate is more efficient and can lessen the duration of therapy as well as overall distress in a more timely manner.
“Trauma held in implicit or pre verbal memory has no way to express itself in narrative form. Instead it is held in the body’s felt sense.” – Allan Schore. Preverbal trauma for infants can be a result of a variety of reasons including: a difficult birth, preterm birth, early hospitalizations, early medical procedures, illness in infant or mother, separations from primary caregiver, chaotic stressful environment for birth mom during the pregnancy, or early abuse and neglect (2018 Debra Wesselmann, Cathy Schweitzer, & Stefanie Armstrong). Early trauma eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, ET-EMDR, encompasses both baby and parents/caregivers in the healing process.
Wilderness based coaching will involve an intentional change of environment. It will immerse participants in the natural environment as part of the coaching process to evoke introspection and facilitate change. Hiking in nature reduces negative patterns of thinking and increases neuroplasticity. Learning about and facing challenges in nature is a beautiful environment in which to grow and gain confidence.
Welcome! At intentional healing COUNSELING & COACHING, we are dedicated to bear witness as you courageously take steps to feel more comfortable in your body, mind, & soul. We feel it imperative to understand that we as humans have all experienced hard things from the past and present that remain stuck in our bodies and disrupt our daily lives.
We feel it our privilege to have learned tools and techniques like mindfulness-based stress reduction to provide psycho education to clients with the benefits of learning to create pause and come to the present moment without judgment, to know that there is movement and that they are strong. Teaching clients to stop and notice how they feel in their bodies and minds as they move through their days. Noticing what feels within and against their value system, their inner wisdom. To learn skills to be able to breathe in and through pain. To use imagery to self soothe and create new neural networks that change how we think and feel.
